The youthful Veterans of Zimbabwe

There are a number of excellent and well written blogs around which comment daily on the depressing theatre macabre being played out in South Africa and especially Zimbabwe at the present time, so, although I may return to the subject of Africa from time to time, I will leave it to them to report that inevitable collision between between reality and the ideological fantasy which so many western politicians and media pundits still refuse to fully acknowledge is happening.

However, I will ask two questions, firstly why is it that a Western news media which cheered as Slobodan Milosevic was dragged to the Hague or when a frail General Pinochet of Chile was arrested during a private visit to London, have conspired to bury all memory of the Matabele massacre carried out by the soldiers of the then still feted Marxist murderer ... uh ... make that freedom fighter and war hero Robert Mugabe during the 1980s, and even now can't quite bring themselves to accuse their old hero of real large scale genocide.

Secondly, am I the only one who finds it nauseating that the newspapers and TV commentators continue to refer to that violent squad of young thugs Mugabe uses to intimidate and silence his opponents as "veterans" of a "war" which ended almost thirty years ago?
